Veteran Services

We deeply appreciate the sacrifices made by our veterans to protect our country, our nation’s interests, and our people. If not for the sacrifices of our veterans, our country would not have the freedoms we all enjoy. We honor the personal sacrifices of all who have served in the armed forces and the sacrifices of their families.

VETERAN SERVICES

Partners in Community Building services veterans through our housing counseling and financial literacy services. Our veteran-specific program is Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF), a program administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (the VA), offering comprehensive services to end homelessness in the veteran community.

SUPPORTIVE SERVICES FOR VETERAN FAMILIES (SSVF)

A range of supportive services are provided to very low-income Veteran families who are currently without permanent housing or at risk of losing permanent housing. To promote housing stability among this population, we assist eligible Veterans through outreach, case management, and wrap-around service support.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

Discharge: All discharges EXCEPT DISHONORABLE from active duty in the USA Military.
Housing Status: Veterans who are either currently homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless*.
Income: Low to very-low income veteran families earning less than 50% of area median income (AMI).
Service Area: PICB is only able to assist Veterans in the Cook County area. Any Veterans who are outside of this area will be referred to another SSVF grantee.
*ALL PREVENTION CASES NEED TO MEET OUR THRESHOLD SCREENING. A CASE MANAGER WILL FURTHER EXPLAIN THIS PROCESS.
